Sambhota Tibetan School, Tenzingang
Sambhota Tibetan School Tenzingang is located in one of the remote places in the district of West Kemang, Arunachal Pradesh, India. The area in which it is located is a land provided by the local Monpa community called “Domkho” as a gift to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Giving important to the child education the school was first started by the Tibetan community of the region in the year of 1972 with mere 50 students however it was undertaken by Central Tibetan School Administration shortly, later as the strength of the student grew the settlement office decided to shift the school to area wider where the school is situated now.
Around 1987-88, Ven Kunchok Paksam, the Head Abbot of Drepung Monastery, personally initiated a project with Mr. Sonam Dhondup and other colleagues. They collected donations from the public to construct a hostel block for students hailing from distant areas such as Tawang and Dirang. Subsequently, due to an increase in the number of students, the Department of Education provided funds for the construction of another hostel block.
In the year 2004-05 looking at the strength and the requirements of the students, a separate library room, computer room, science lab, drawing room, school ground were constructed so as to improve the overall facilities in the school, more classrooms were also added so to accommodate the growing number of students.
As students started to come from far region like Tawang, Dirang etc…The settlement office with the help of Department of Education, CTA then constructed one hostel room with kitchen and also a crutch room.
In the month of July 2016 the school administration was undertaken by Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society from Central Tibetan School Administration. Since all the staffs’ recruitments and their facilities are all taken care by the society, the school administration has very much focused on student’s education, health and facilities.
The primary goal of this school is to provide education with a focus on four key principles: Freedom, Altruism, Heritage, and Innovation. This aims to cultivate the holistic development of each student, empowering them to become the best individuals they can be.
