BIRTH OF SAMBHOTA TIBETAN SCHOOLS SOCIETY

There are many Tibetan settlements, located in the most remote, far flung areas and remain cut off from the mainstream Tibetan community. Many Tibetans have resettled to small towns in different parts of India as they proved to be the better avenues for their livelihood. Children of such parents were deprived of school to learn Tibetan language and familiarize themselves with Tibetan culture. Tibetan local bodies, in such places, have started schools on their own initiative. However, they failed to maintain the initial zeal and tempo to run and manage them. The schools were handed over to the Department of Education (DoE) for their sustenance and management. Over the years, the number of such schools, which were directly managed by the DOE steadily increased to 19 at the time of formation of Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society.
The DOE, after consultation with the Kashag and many experts, issued a five-point guidelines on 16th May 1999 for starting a new organization that would manage the schools which were erstwhile managed directly by the DoE.

“Change starts with us as individuals.
If one individual becomes more Compassionate, it will influence others and so will change the world”

FOCUS AREAS:

In Sambhota Tibetan Schools, we have children from the settlements that are located in the most remote parts of India. Over 90 percent of our children are either from Tuting, Tezu, Miao or Tenzin Gaon. These settlements are located in the North East of India. Tuting in particular, remains cut off from mainland Tibetan Settlements for around 6 months in a calendar year. Moreover, the geographical location of Tuting is such that there are no Tibetan schools established in the area.
By the kind and generous support we receive from all our sponsors/donors, it has been made possible for us to bring the underprivileged Tibetan children from these remote settlements to the different schools under the network of Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society, where the children receive formal educations and develop their overall personality.

However, one can support as per their capabilities.Your support amount can vary as per your financial condition.Your kind help and support can bring smiles on the faces of our children. Some of the former Sambhota students are in a high position in governmental as well as non governmental organizations. We attribute all the successes that our students attain to all our kind and generous sponsors, without you the story might have been different.
