Sambhota Tibetan School Arlikumari is located in between Old Camp no. 3 and 4 of Lugsum Samdupling Tibetan Settlement, near the Golden temple of Bylakuppe. It is a dream destination for parents to look out for the ideal setting for their children to spend their schooling years from the Primary education to class V. The school works closely with CBSE curriculum. The area is popularly known for its tourist attraction with important centres like Golden temple, Nunnery, markets and the calm nature in its vicinity.
Sambhota Tibetan School Arlikumari was initially founded under the name Central School for Tibetans Arlikumari in the year 1977 under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India as a branch of Central School for Tibetans Bylakuppe which is now called, Sambhota Tibetan School Bylakuppe. However; on December 3rd, 2013 all the four branch schools including Central School for Tibetans Arlikumari were handed over to Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society. Since then the school has been managed under the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society.
At present the school is comprised of 75 students with a Headmaster, six teaching and one non teaching staff. The school has a computer room, library, music room, and a resource room with all the necessary equipments.
STS Arlikumari is a coeducational school which lay strong emphasis on the simultaneous development of modern education as well as our esteemed traditional Tibetan education. It comprises mainly of students from the areas nearby our school. With facilities like proper sanitation in toilets, drinking water and multi stream school that follows variety of co-curricular activities to facilitate differential learning opportunities to children. The school abides by a strong secular outlook with no discrimination in any forms to impart an educational excellence within our premises. An opportunity has been provided every day for the students in terms of open air reading corner during the break time with good amount of variable story books for the students. The school aims intensely in the academic excellence with the development of all the other skills needed for a very well constructive development of a learner thereby making the school a very hospitable area for a learner to express without feeling of fear and anxiety.
STS Arlikumari has been known for its excellence in the field of all round development for long with outstanding alumni who are all making constructive contribution to our Tibetan society. The school has been blessed with well spacious area comprising of a soccer ground, badminton court and well decorated classrooms with a separate reading corner to enhance the reading habits of the children. The school focuses on the all-round development of the skills of the children with continuous emphasis on teachers to improve their competency by organizing professional growth meetings, discussion with resource persons, pedagogical skills display, book reviews and so on. The headmaster and the teachers always have an active approach in engaging towards the various kind of workshops like “Child emotional intelligence, inclusive education, learning disabilities to name a few conducted by the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society in collaboration with DoE Dharamsala.
These workshops have been a major part of the teaching learning process in STS Arlikumari with the development of conducive learning atmosphere between the learners and the teachers. Often, we are blessed to have educators, officers and other reverential dignitaries who spend some amount of their precious time in knowing about the daily routines of the school. This frequently results in the renewed amount of motivations, inspirations and positive atmospheres within the teachers through the sharing of their wisdom, values gained through the experiences of working closely in our society in the form of advice and guidelines.
Finally, STS Arlikumari has been rather fortunate to have a good core of energetic staff members under the constructive guidance of the school head has always been striving in the direction of creating all the necessary right conditions in the school for the learners to grow naturally in making themselves an independent thinker in their later life.
